Vanitas (are 18th century Dutch still life images incorporating things that represent the impermanence of life — things like smoke, bubbles, decaying fruit or flowers, earthly riches and indulgences, etc.
These objects placed together often in monochromatic scenes represented the transience of life, the futility of pleasure, and the certainty of death, often contrasting symbols of wealth and symbols of ephemerality and death.
Composition and placement, the arranging process of pre-production is cathartic and therapeutic and can lead to what seems like endless possibilities in composing and arranging, lighting and capturing.
